Fun Last Weekend

The last weekend here in India – at least for this trip.  Some of the things we did . . .

First, A Beautiful Sari . . .

Rita, head of housekeeping at NuTech Medi World showed Kathy some tricks to putting on a sari.  This is one piece of fabric wound around, pleated and tucked, and vio-la.dsc035030001.JPG

Mehndi Tattoos next . . .

Tattoo body art designs by mehndi artists with henna paint.

Amy Scher, her sister-in-law Tatiana, and Kathy had traditional art painted on their hands and feet.

A work in progress for Kathy.

Such fun in the NuTech lobby on a Friday night.

The henna “paint” has to dry for a couple hours then it flakes off and . . .

The darker red/orange it is the better it is supposed to be.  They tell me it should last about ten days.

One last shopping trip for supplies . . .

The “B-Mart” is where we have done all our shopping at Green Park Market.  We teased when it grew up, it could be a ”K-Mart” .

It‘s size was about 10′ wide by 20′ deep and the owners could find almost anything you wanted or needed.  It was an amazing use of space!

These guys deliver cases of water to our rooms on their bicycles.  Rusty and his wheelchair could not get further than the front door in the store but they were so helpful they would do your shopping for you, then deliver it free of charge.

Some brands were familiar ones and others just looked familiar.

Tomorrow (Sunday) we plan to get out and site see at Mhavir Temple, Garden of Five Senses; or Akashardham Temple just across the Yamuna River in Delhi.  More later!

Loved the pictures–the sari is beautiful. Hope this last week sees more improvements and you have a safe return trip. Can’t wait to see you.

Wow that is one phenomenal saree! I am impressed. Are you going to be able to remember how to put it on?? Thanks for giving us a glimpse of the B-mart and more of what your lives have entailed. I love the Mehndi–I hope it lasts for a long time so that you can show everyone. I was shocked to see a guy painting it on. I did not know that they were supposed to touch it unless the bridegroom was being painted. How are male and female roles/rights different?
Dad, do you still have a catheter in? How is your strength?

I am excited for your return!
    Love
    Kari
